Fridays at COSDU

Friday 16 October 202607:00 pm - 09:00 pm

COSDU Catholic Society is the biggest Catholic group at Melbourne Uni but is open to all young adults and university students as a place to discover the foundations of Catholicism and its teachings. We seek to provide a space to build life-giving relationships with our brothers and sisters and grow in discipleship together. It encourages young adults to become active members of the Catholic Church. Guided by chaplains Sr Delma Lamb and Fr Peter Fitzsimons, COSDU strives to provide those interested in the faith a conducive environment for spiritual growth through prayer, sacraments, fellowship and social justice activities. As COSDUans, we aim to continually seek and discover the love of Christ and share His eternal truth to the world. P.S. Free dinner at 6:20 at St Mary's West Hall, University of Melbourne every Friday of the semester :)

The Ritual and The Reason: Exploring Parts of The Mass

Saturday 17 October 2026 - Saturday 17 October 2026

Every ritual in the Mass has a purpose. Every word, gesture, symbol, and prayer helps us encounter God and grow as a community of faith. As we explore the parts of the Mass, we will discover not only what we do, but why we do it. From the Sign of the Cross to the Final Blessing, each ritual invites us to listen, respond, give thanks, and be transformed by God’s presence. Fr. Brian Nichols is a lecturer at Catholic Theological College and a member of the Department of Systematic Theology, lecturing in liturgical theology and the Sacrament of Holy Orders. He is the Parish Priest of Sandy Bay/Taroona parish in Hobart, holding a Bachelor of Theology (University of Divinity) and a Licentiate in Sacred Theology from St Anselmo (Rome).
